El Chato parks at Olympic Boulevard and La Brea Avenue, in the lot at 5300 W Olympic, and starts serving at 9 PM, Tuesday through Saturday. It runs until 1:30 AM midweek and 3:30 AM on Friday and Saturday. By opening time there is usually a line.

What to Order

Tacos come loaded with meat and topped with onion and cilantro, with cucumber, radish and lime on the side. The al pastor is the one most people mention, sweet and tangy with a little heat; carne asada, chicken, chorizo, lengua and tripa round out the meats. The steak mulita, meat and cheese pressed between two tortillas, has its own following, and the burritos come stuffed with asada, rice, beans, grilled onions, avocado, cheese and the truck's spicy sauce.
